Oh this week! This week! It has been one filled with too many ups and downs. Hospital visit on Sunday after stepping on a rusty nail, work in Edinburgh and running between beautiful old buildings (whilst the rain was pouring down) and some very exciting publication news (still secret!).
Autumn is well and truly here. The colours on the trees have changed and I feel the need to let myself slow down as well. But I must confess I am pretty bad at giving myself time to recharge. So this morning I decided to slow down. Snuggle up around the kitchen table and savour breakfast that lasts a little longer than it should, celebrating and appreciating a slower pace of living. But it also got me thinking about imperfections.
At times I think there is too much of a rigid focus on perfection with a narrow view of what is beautiful. Our world of being feed with so much “perfection” (perfectly styled spaces, perfectly painted surfaces) favours the new over the old, the immediate over the slow. But I am not sure that this flavour of perfection is serving us well. Perhaps it is making us more stressed or forces us to conform to a syle of view before looking at the inside. Indeed I have written about this before, but it is worth revisiting – time. Letting one evolve slowly over time, whether it is internal or external.
So with the seasonal changes, I find myself once again, looking at the inside, slowing down and taking a moment to appreciate that the spaces around me are allowed to evolve slowly. And as they do, they become more complex and more alive as the days go by.
As always, do press the little heart if you like this post – it brings me so much joy to know that you are reading and liking what I’m writing.
Jag blir så otroligt glad om ni klickar på det lilla hjärtat så jag vet ifall ni gillar det jag gör.
