Hidden beauty seeker – a swede in Scotland & new blog

It feels unreal to be blogging at Lovely Life! Not only because there are some absolutely amazing bloggers on here (no pressure EH!?), but because I have been a staunch admirer of Lovely Life since its inception. So, here I am –  welcome to my blog – I hope you’ll follow along

I have always been deeply passionate about interior, food and nature – spending my childhood scurrying between my father’s restaurants in Gothenburg where I grew up; the countryside of Southern France where I spent every summer with my French aunt; and the seaside of San Remo, Italy, where I just ate too much gnocchi and burrata.

So, as you might have figured out by now, I’m originally from Gothenburg, and a true göteborgare at heart. I love the seaside, shrimps and every time I go back home I speak in the most ridiculous Gothenburg accent you could ever imagine (Hallå döö!). I moved to Scotland 7 years ago now, after I met my partner Patrick. Having a mutual love for nature, antiques and old houses we decided to buy a Victorian house built 1860, overlooking a ”wee loch” (as the Scots would say) in the Scottish countryside.

In need of a massive renovation, we began to restore the house, in true DIY style, using traditional techniques. Although we have just begun our project – and had a couple of hiccups along the way -, we have undertaken the designing and restoration of it ourselves. The style we are going for is inspired by my multicultural background and childhood memories of Italian tiles, French antiques and Scandinavian modernism, with a British interior twist (thanks Patrick!).

When I’m not wearing overalls you’ll find me working as a content creator, interior stylist and researcher in political science. My ethos when it comes to renovating and designing is to incorporate sustainability principles, designing for longevity and flexibility, with antique furniture and organic materials that have a low environmental impact. And how do you achieve that? Well, if you follow along on my blog I will be sharing lots of tips and tricks on how to incorporate antique furniture and organic material into your design, DIY-ing and budgeting for house renovations. As well as far too many pictures of lochs, mountains and my dog Alva.

So that’s me, I’m so excited to be sharing my life in Scotland with ya’ll.
