The good thing about travelling is that you get so much inspiration. New impressions, new smells and new colours. So when I was sitting on the flight back home from Gothenburg my mind was filled with ideas of what to do with the house once I came back. The most pressing matter was the living room. Although I love it and it served its purpose for two people, I’ve always felt that it does not work when having friends over for any type of gathering. It always ended up with people sitting on the floor …
Granted, I’m a big advocate for kitchen socialisation, sitting in the kitchen all night with candle vax running all over the table. But I like the idea of moving into the living room after dinner, having a couple of drinks in front of the fire.

No jokes, the minute I stepped into the hallway I was firing into the redecoration. If you all remember this is what it looked like before 👇

We exchanged the metal coffee tables for a rounded one in wood to create a centrepiece for people to sit around. I was keen to incorporate more wooden materials as the black metal had a tendency to give the living room a harsher look. The big yellow armchair was replaced with two smaller chairs – a more comfortable armchair decorated with cautions and a sheepskin throw and one occasion chair. The white-grey wool rug was moved upstairs and down came the antique vintage rug to create a softer feel to the space.

Redecorating really made me think about the slow approach to living, to be at peace with the idea that a home is constantly evolving and never finished decorative-wise. Indeed, life is like this. Life is constantly evolving, and we as humans change throughout our life cycle. A home is similar to that because we as humans live in it, spend time in it and evolve in it. Therefore, let your home grow and evolve over time, just like you.

What do you think? Do you like the new look?
As always, do press the little heart if you like this post – it brings me so much joy to know that you are reading and liking what I’m writing.
