Nu har det gått en vecka sen vi besökte Gotland och Hotel Stelor. Och vilken fin helg det var! Vi tänkte att vi skulle kika lite närmare på hur vi hade det.
It’s been one week since we visited Gotland and Hotel Stelor. And what a great weekend it was! We thought that we’d take a closer look on what we were up to.
The timing of our visit turned out to be great since we got the company of Linus, My and their little son. Both Linus and My work at the hotel summer time and took great care of us. Linus, the hotel chef, cooked a fantastic vegetarian dinner and we ended the evening with ice cream from Gotland, and lots of chit-chat. Maria, who does communication and PR for the hotel, was also present.
This is where we woke up the day after, in room number 4. Even though we had access to all of the hotel’s beautiful rooms we chose to share one. Kind of like when you were a kid and had sleepovers. All the rooms look different and have different themes, so choosing one was hard.
Room 4: The young author August Strindberg lives is room number four. He has a small desk to work on his masterpieces and from the bathroom window placed in the ceiling, he can find inspiration by looking at the stars. The sloping roof and wall paper with and old flower print gives us the impression that the aspiring author has rented a room in an old lady’s house
Maybe we got stuck on this room because of the beautiful wall paper and tile stove…
…eller så var det utsikten över hotellets trädgård och de små husen.
…or maybe it was the view over the hotel garden and the small houses.
Linus and My had created breakfast with freshly baked bread down in the kitchen. Maria came by for a short breakfast meeting.
We had to take a photo of this simplistic teapot, which is one of the items sold at the hotel.
The light downstairs was magical!
Maria took os on a small round trip. We were curious to find out more about the hotel and the surrounding area. We tried to picture how this will look when summer comes and the retreat and workshop takes place. Except the hotel, there’s also a restaurant, barn and a couple of small houses on the area. And a fantastic, old, preserved garden. So much history in one place – this was a health resort at the turn of the century. After the round trip we were convinced this place really is perfect for us. And you of course!
Right beneath the house lies the “Änget” (a new word for the us – sounds beautiful, doesn’t it?). Depending on the season different flowers are at bloom. And right next to it you can find browsing sheep. Did you notice that the trees are hugging? <3
After the roundtrip we took a short walk to the ocean. The nature and it’s surroundings here are beautiful. A morning swim will be a part of the retreat.
Maria’s cute dog Bella.
Then it was time to say good bye to Maria and visit the hotel and restaurant’s local organic vegetable farmer Janne. Linus wanted to show us where they grow most of the crops for the restaurants vegetables and we wanted to tag along.
Back at the hotel we had lunch and went around looking at things a bit more. Then the snow storm hit and we decided for a calm dinner in Visby. We took it really easy on the roads since they don’t use road salt in Gotland. A pretty terrifying and new experience for us. We made it both to Visby and back again without driving down into a ditch, so we were lucky!
The third day we woke up to a Gotland covered in snow and freshly baked scones in the kitchen.
A little later we packed up our things and went back to Visby for a last meeting with Maria. Then it was back to the mainland again. Thanks for this weekend Hotel Stelor!
