Collaboration with Midnatt
When we planned the layout of the house we decided that the biggest bedroom would be the office and one of the back bedrooms would be our bedroom. Indeed the back bedroom is smaller but it gets the most beautiful morning and evening light. You know the type of light that dims your eyes.
It’s no coincidence really that the paint we choose for the bedroom is called First Light, resembling the essence of light at dawn. But what I love most about this room is how bedding can change the feel of it. Combining a nuance of ice-cold lemon sorbet, neutral grey-beige and a pinky-peachy dusky colour just embodies everything that summer means to me.
And when I lay in the softest sheets with the golden evening light shining up the whole room, listening to the ocean waves outside of the bedroom window all I can think about is this poem:
Day is ended, dim my eyes,
but journey long before me lies.
Farewell, friends! I hear the call.
The ship’s beside the stony wall.
Foam is white and waves are grey;
beyond the sunset leads my way.
Foam is salt, the wind is free;
I hear the rising of the Sea.
Farewell, friends! The sails are set,
the wind is east, the moorings fret.
Shadows long before me lie,
beneath the ever-bending sky,
but islands lie behind the Sun
that I shall raise ere all is done;
lands there are to west of West,
where night is quiet and sleep is rest.
As always, do press the little heart if you like this post – it brings me so much joy to know that you are reading and liking what I’m writing.
