“Tavin represents a woman who easily identifies with Laurel Canyon / Morocco and the Parisian Gypsy in all of us.
Sophisticated, hip, romantic, playful, whimsical and earthy clothing that combines all of these elements into a colorful pastiche of modern day ware with an ever changing selection of vintage one never knows what they might find on any given day.
Erin Tavin began her career as an actress on the East Coast and transitioned into costuming and styling for film shortly after moving to Los Angeles.
In 2009, she opened her boutique, Tavin, in Echo Park. She has been most inspired in her life by traveling; whether it’s an unknown city or into wild nature. Growing up in New York City, she was very influenced by the theater, museums, literature, art books, and films.
The opening of Tavin Boutique stemmed from her desire for there to be a place in Los Angeles that one could simply lose oneself in; not just to shop, but to get lost as in a dream, the way she did in her Paris visits years ago or her wanderings throughout the city as a younger woman… a place to exchange ideas, thoughts, and laughs with a strong feeling of community… a place to relax in beauty.
For Erin, it is a visual poem reflecting a lifestyle of easy laid-back gypsy living… A bohemian lifestyle with a California flavor… a Lauren Canyon or Big Sur of the 1960’s with a touch of European influences.”
